How CDS designed and built a full 19-section website for Plessislaer Arya Samaj — a registered NPO founded in 1924, preserving Hindi language, culture, and community service in Pietermaritzburg. The site was officially unveiled at their landmark Centenary Celebration.
The Client
Plessislaer Arya Samaj (PAS) is a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO-266-250) based in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Founded on 24 June 1924, the organisation recently celebrated its Centenary — 100 years as a cornerstone of the local Indian community. PAS actively promotes the Hindi language, preserves cultural heritage, runs seva (community service) projects, and nurtures the next generation through dedicated youth programmes.
From their annual Hindi Awards ceremony and float parade entries at the Msunduzi Diwali Festival, to Mandela Day knitting initiatives and live entertainment fundraisers, PAS is a living, active organisation with a story worth telling — and a community always watching.
The Challenge
Despite decades of meaningful work, PAS had no central digital presence. Their community activities, events, committee, principles, and programmes existed only in physical records, word of mouth, and fragmented communications. There was no single place where members, prospective Hindi students, donors, or the broader public could learn who they are, what they stand for, or how to get involved.
The organisation needed a website that was dignified, easy to navigate, and capable of growing alongside them — one that could document their history while announcing their current activities and future events in real time.
The Solution
CDS designed and built a comprehensive website at paspmb.org.za that serves as the organisation's complete digital home. The site was structured to reflect the full breadth of what PAS does — not just an "about us" page, but a living document of their identity, programmes, and community impact.
Every section was planned to serve a specific audience: potential Hindi learners, long-standing members, community partners, youth looking to get involved, and media seeking event information. The result is a site that is as welcoming to a first-time visitor as it is useful to a returning member — and one that was officially unveiled at the Centenary Celebration itself, making the digital launch part of a historic milestone.
Scope of Work
The project encompassed the full design-to-launch process, plus ongoing digital support after go-live.
Planned and structured 19 content sections to reflect the organisation's full identity and programmes.
Full visual design and site build — layout, colour, typography, imagery, and navigation — tailored to a cultural NPO audience.
Structured years of historical records, events, photography, and programme information into a clear, accessible format.
Dedicated event pages for 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons, keeping members and the public informed of activities.
Bespoke sections for Hindi classes, Spiritual Studies, Youth Initiatives, the Seva Feeding Initiative, and the Knitters Group.
Keyword-rich meta titles and descriptions to ensure PAS is discoverable by people searching for cultural and community organisations in PMB.
Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions, and Disclaimer pages included as part of a complete, professional web presence.
Ongoing social media management of the PAS Facebook page — keeping the community connected between events.

The Outcome
Plessislaer Arya Samaj — now in its 102nd year — has a professional, fully-indexed web presence that reflects the depth and dignity of their century-long work. The website was unveiled at the Centenary Celebration in June 2024, making it not just a digital launch but a historic moment. It is live, actively updated, and serves as the official digital face of the organisation.
Their events — from the award-winning Msunduzi Diwali Float Parade entry to their Annual Hindi Awards ceremony — are now documented and publicly accessible. Prospective Hindi students, community partners, and media can find, verify, and connect with PAS at any time.
CDS continues to support the organisation as an ongoing digital partner, managing their Facebook page and keeping the website current as new events and milestones unfold.
